Disgaea 2 : Cursed Memories (PS2)
Disgaea was a break-away RPG hit for Nippon Ichi Software, and now gamers can return to that magical world with Disgaea 2 : Cursed Memories for the PS2. Featuring a new cast, new world, and a new enemy to defeat, the game provides another stunning RPG story and some surprises for fans of the original game. The game takes place in the land of Valdime, where humans are all but nonexistent. In fact, players will take on the role of Adell, the only human in Valdime. At the beginning of the game, the fate of the other humans is explained: the evil wizard Zenon has turned them all into demons. When Adell and his demon mother try to summon Zenon to defeat him, they make a small mistake and end up with his daughter, Rozalin, who is very stuck up and pretentious. However, she’s also bound to Adell by the summoning ritual, and so she must accompany him on his journey to defeat Zenon. The combat is nearly identical to that in Disgaea, which featured very solid battles and exploration. Combat is turn based and focuses on strategy. Each character in battle can move, attack, use items, and cast spells or use other special abilities. Special tiles called Geo Panels can enhance attacks, so players will want to take advantage of them. Fans of the first Disgaea will love Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, and gamers unfamiliar with the first game will also be able to pick it up without missing anything.
